Maple Leafs Snap Losing Streak, 4-3
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Vincent Damphousse recorded his third career hat trick and Lou Franceschetti added the game-winner in the third period as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Buffalo Sabres, 4-3, Friday night.
Franceschetti snapped a 3-3 tie while Toronto was short-handed with 5:06 left to play.
Damphousse scored the first three goals for the Leafs, who snapped a two-game losing streak and moved within three points of second-place Chicago in the Norris Division.
The Sabres, who lost to the Kings Wednesday, got goals from Dave Andreychuk, rookie Bob Corkum and Rick Vaive.
Andreychuk got the Sabres’ first score with his 34th goal at 11:12 of the first period on the power play.
