LOCAL : Cypress Motorcyclist Is Injured
A Cypress motorcyclist was listed in stable condition this morning after suffering moderate injuries when he slammed into an 18-wheel truck, authorities said.
Scott Johnson, 18, was pulling out of a parking lot on Katella Boulevard east of Beach Boulevard in Stanton about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday when he collided with the truck, Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Jay Mendez said.
Johnson apparently was not aware that the truck was attempting to turn right into a private driveway, Mendez said.
“When he noticed that the truck was turning, he tried to go around it, but hit the rear of the truck,” he said.
Johnson received moderate injuries to his head and back and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, Mendez said.
