NAMES IN THE NEWS : Lily Tomlin at Day-Care Center
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Lily Tomlin, who donated proceeds from a recent comedy performance to an innovative day-care center for homeless children, attended the center’s dedication ceremonies.
A room in the Wayside Christian Mission’s day-care center was named the Lily Tomlin Arts and Drama Room.
Tomlin’s opening night performance in Louisville of “The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe” raised between $3,000 and $5,000 for the center, said Executive Director Timothy Moseley.
The center will serve about 25 children within two weeks and eventually up to 49 a week, Moseley said. It will enable parents applying for jobs, looking for apartments, visiting the doctor or running errands to leave their children with day-care workers instead of taking them along, he said.
