Underground Work to Close Part of Street
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power began work Tuesday on an underground construction project that will close the southbound lanes of Glendale Boulevard in Atwater Village for about 10 days.
The road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at the Hyperion Bridge between Valleybrink Road and Riverside Drive. At other times, one lane will be open. Southbound motorists are advised to use Los Feliz Boulevard, Hyperion Avenue, Fletcher Drive or San Fernando Road.
DWP crews will install underground ducts to ensure electrical service to residences and businesses in Atwater Village and Silver Lake. The project was made necessary by earth movement in the area, the DWP said.
