Nation : D.C. Prostitution Figure Jailed
WASHINGTON — Stephen Gobie, who claims he ran a gay prostitution ring from the Capitol Hill home of Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), spent the night in jail after a clash with an off-duty woman police officer, police said today.
He was charged with destruction of property and possession of marijuana.
Gobie allegedly smashed through the sunroof of the woman’s car after she approached him at a traffic light and asked why he was “driving in such an erratic manner,” police said.
Gobie, 34, was arrested after the Wednesday incident, which allegedly began when he was seen driving in an “unsafe manner” and almost collided with a number of cars, police spokesman Officer Edward Wilson said.
Last summer, Gobie revealed that he had been the live-in lover of Frank from 1985 to 1987. Frank acknowledged that he initially hired Gobie for sex after answering a “personals” ad in a local newspaper.
