NAMES IN THE NEWS : Elizabeth Taylor ‘Doing Fine,’ Is Poring Over Get-Well Wishes
Actress Elizabeth Taylor, hospitalized three weeks with pneumonia, had a good weekend and has started poring over the thousands of cards and letters from well-wishers, her publicist said.
“She’s doing fine,” Taylor’s spokeswoman Chen Sam said today. “She’s been doing pretty well over the weekend.”
Taylor, 58, who was reported near death the previous weekend, was moved Thursday to a private room after an 10-day stay in the intensive care unit at St. John’s Hospital and Health Center.
Doctors gave no indication when Taylor would be able to leave the hospital and continue recuperation at her Beverly Hills home, Sam said from her New York City office.
Meanwhile, the Oscar-winning star of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and “Butterfield 8” has started to read messages from well-wishers.
