Turner Moved Fast After Her Split With Hayden: Jane Fonda
NEW YORK — Jane Fonda says her current beau, cable king Ted Turner, wasted no time phoning her up after reading last year about her breakup with husband Tom Hayden.
“He wanted to know if I was available to date,” Fonda said in an interview in the June 11 issue of People magazine. “I think I said I wasn’t feeling so hot, that he was an interesting guy, too, but I wasn’t feeling peppy.”
Fonda and Turner eventually met, but she and Italian soccer player Lorenzo Caccialanza were dating at the time, the magazine said. Turner, whose holdings include CNN and the Atlanta Braves, waited until that relationship ended to make a move, People said.
Turner, 51, was uncharacteristically reticent about his relationship with Fonda, 52. “It’s hard to have your dating life dissected,” he said. Turner did say he works out more now that he dates Fonda, who has made a series of exercise videos.
What does Turner’s daughter think about the pair?
Fonda is a cut above Dad’s earlier girlfriends, says Laura Turner, his oldest daughter. She told People magazine that she hasn’t always approved of Turner’s women, but says Fonda is OK. “I think they’re appropriate for each other,” she said.
