Software Toolworks’ Net Income Climbs Sharply
Software Toolworks Inc., a Chatsworth maker of software for personal computers and the Nintendo video-game system, said its net income for the fourth quarter ended March 31 jumped 217%, to $2.35 million from $740,000 a year before. The company’s sales rose 78% to $21.9 million from $12.3 million.
Software Toolworks noted that its results for this year and last year reflect its merger with another software company, Mindscape Inc., in March.
For the year ended March 31, Software Toolworks’ profit was $2.59 million, compared to a loss of $4.27 million the previous year. Annual revenue rose 96%, to $68.7 million from $35 million.
Separately, the company introduced a piano keyboard and related teaching software for use with the Nintendo home video system. The piano product, unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago, will have a suggested retail price of about $300.
