College Trustees Hire Consultant
The Glendale College Board of Trustees voted Monday to hire a consultant to advise the college in developing a new system for handling personnel issues. The decision was a result of a vote last April by the college’s 243 classified employees to eliminate the “merit system,” in which a three-member independent commission was responsible for classified personnel matters.
The vote made the Board of Trustees responsible for hiring, firing and promotion of the college’s classified employees.
For a fee of about $7,000, Bob Austin, Casey and Associates, the consultants, will help the college evaluate the existing procedures for administering the classified employees and develop new guidelines for the board.
