VENTURA : Driver Killed After He Is Ejected by Car
A 27-year-old Ventura man was killed on California 126 after he was thrown from his overturned car and hit by four other vehicles, officials said.
Walter Ivanof suffered massive head and leg injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene Friday, Deputy Coroner Jim Wingate said.
Wingate said a quart bottle of beer was found in the car but said the coroner has not yet determined whether Ivanof was drunk.
Witnesses said Ivanof was driving at an excessive speed and frequently changing lanes while traveling east on the highway, one mile west of Victoria Avenue about 9:45 p.m. His car hit the center divider and overturned, throwing Ivanof into the westbound lane, the California Highway Patrol reported.
