NAMES IN THE NEWS : Caan to Marry Hometown Girl

Actor James Caan will marry a woman raised in the same New York City neighborhood where he grew up two decades earlier, his publicist said.

Caan, 49, and Ingrid Hajek, 29, announced their engagement today and said they plan to marry later this year, said spokesman Paul Bloch.

“They grew up a few blocks apart in Sunnyside, New York, and went to the same public school, PS 150,” Bloch said. “However, they only met two years ago when they were introduced by mutual friends.”

It will be Hajek’s second marriage and Caan’s third, he said.

Caan, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in “The Godfather” and for a television Emmy Award for his role in “Brian’s Song,” has two children, Scott, 13, who lives with the actor in Los Angeles, and a daughter, Tara.
