CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : ONTARIO : Car Theft Suspects Seized in 3 Counties
More than 30 people were arrested for investigation of car theft in simultaneous raids in three Southern California counties, authorities said. The raids culminated a sting operation that began late last year and resulted in the recovery of 90 automobiles valued at more than $1.3 million, said Ontario Police Detective Jim Vandever. Authorities opened a shop called Classic Detailers in Ontario in September. Although the business performed some legitimate work, “they leaked the word out to the street that the real business was buying stolen cars,” Vandever said.
