National City
A 16-year-old girl was slightly wounded by a stray bullet while watching a fireworks display with her family in National City Wednesday night. Ena Anderson, 16, of Paradise Hills was hit in the head by the bullet, Police Officer David Grande police said.
“She felt something hit the left side of her head. (The bullet) appeared to have been falling free after being shot in the air,” Grande said. A doctor at Paradise Valley Hospital removed a .22-caliber bullet from under the skin.
The Morse High School senior’s mother, Vernell Anderson, said her daughter received five stitches. “She’s got a whopping headache, but she’s smiling through it,” she said.
