Man Held in Freeway Crash That Injured Six
YORBA LINDA — A man was arrested Monday on suspicion of reckless driving and felony child endangerment after his car careened out of control on the Riverside Freeway and was struck head-on by an oncoming car, the California Highway Patrol said.
Nelvin Dupree Cook, 20, of Compton was allegedly driving at up to 95 m.p.h. and weaving in and out of the westbound lanes when he lost control of his 1974 Chevrolet, CHP spokeswoman Linda Burrus said.
The car crossed the center divider into the eastbound lanes just east of Gypsum Canyon Road, where it collided with a car traveling about 55 m.p.h., Burrus said.
The other driver, Anthony Gerald Rodas, 38, of Manhattan Beach, was hospitalized with moderate injuries, Burrus said.
