LOCAL : Valencia Man Held in Fatal Crash
A Valencia man was arrested this morning on suspicion of drunk driving and manslaughter after his car crossed into an oncoming traffic lane in Green Valley and struck another car head-on, killing the other driver, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Kenneth Gurule, 21, was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail after the 3:30 a.m. accident on San Francisquito Canyon Road at Pelton Street in the rural area north of Santa Clarita Valley, said CHP Officer Steve Cortes.
The identity of the 60-year-old Lake Hughes man killed in the accident was not released pending notification of his family.
Gurule had been driving northbound on the two-lane San Francisquito Canyon Road when his car drifted into the southbound lane and struck the oncoming car, Cortes said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Gurule failed a roadside sobriety test and was arrested, Cortes said.
