Beatty Checks Out of ‘Doctor’: Warren Beatty has dropped out of Touchstone’s “The Doctor” due to creative differences over the script with director Randa Haines, Daily Variety reported on Thursday. Spokesmen for Beatty and Disney would not comment. The newspaper also said that Disney has called in former Columbia Pictures head Dawn Steel to serve in a key production capacity on the film, which is slated to roll in September. (The Outtakes column in the July 22 Sunday Calendar, printed earlier this week, reports that Beatty is still involved in the film project.)
