Cam Data and Sulcus Suspend Merger Talks
FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Merger talks have been suspended between Sulcus Computer of Greensburg, Pa., and Cam Data Systems, a Fountain Valley maker of computers and point-of-sale systems for the retail industry.
The two companies announced in June that Sulcus planned to acquire Cam Data in a $2-million stock swap. Jeff Ratner, chairman and chief executive of Sulcus, said his company remains interested in buying Cam Data but the companies could not reach a final agreement last week as originally expected.
Carl Smith, Cam Data’s president and chief executive, said the two companies agreed that the timing for a merger was wrong and that talks should be suspended. He said there would be no impact on the company’s operations.
For the six months ended March 31, Cam Data Systems reported a loss of $636,000 on revenue of $2.2 million, compared to a loss of $266,000 on revenue of $2.2 million a year earlier.
