Well, Rosenberg has exposed his journalistic incompetence once again. How dare he attack John Corcoran?
CNN hasn’t risen to the top of the news world by selling commercial time. It makes its money by selling its footage and story packages to independent stations worldwide. That’s the bottom line!
What KCAL staffers did--rebroadcasting Hillard’s piece using Corcoran’s voice-over--is done by every independent station that purchases those same footage packages. KCAL and other stations pay millions of dollars for the right to use both audio and visual material.
CNN reporter Gloria Hillard is well aware of the licensing agreement that CNN has with the independent stations, and so for that matter is Rosenberg.
I’ve known John Corcoran for a short time now and he’s a fine writer, and an eloquent and witty spokesperson and KCAL is lucky to have him. But more importantly his ethics are beyond reproach.
