Howard Baldwin, who led the effort to buy the North Stars of the NHL and keep them in Minnesota, said that he was stepping down as president of the team because of differences of opinion with majority owner Norman Green.

Green, however, said that Baldwin hadn’t officially resigned. Green said that he, Baldwin and minority owner Morris Belzberg would meet today “to try and work something out.”

“As of yet, he hasn’t resigned and we haven’t made a deal yet. So far, nothing has happened,” Green told the Associated Press. “I’d be kind of sad if he left because he’s worked hard and done the best he could.”

Baldwin told Twin Cities television station KSTP that “It was just a question of two people with strong personalities and sets of ideals. The front office is simply too small for all of us. I guess I’m the one to go.”
