Judge Montes Wins National Award
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Montes, supervising judge of the Family Law Departments, has received an Achievement Award from the National Assn. of Counties for changing the court’s method of handling divorce cases, allowing for quicker resolutions.
Montes, a former mayor of San Gabriel, was appointed to Alhambra Municipal Court in 1976 and Superior Court in 1980. He has been supervising judge of the Family Law Departments since Jan. 1, 1989.
James H. Williams, dean of the College of Arts at Cal Poly Pomona, is president of the newly organized Human Relations Council for the Pomona Valley area. The purpose of the council is to facilitate cooperation between agencies to promote racial, religious, gender and ethnic harmony.
