World IN BRIEF : LEBANON : Sanctions May Be Imposed on Aoun

Lebanon’s pro-Syrian government will impose sanctions on renegade Christian Maj. Gen. Michel Aoun in a bid to force him into submission, government sources said in Beirut. At a four-hour Cabinet meeting headed by President Elias Hrawi, it was decided to cut the supply of fuel and commodities to Aoun’s forces and to withhold the salaries of civil servants in areas under his control, the sources said.
