Another Ban for 2 Live Crew: An Indiana judge has ruled that the 2 Live Crew album “As Nasty as They Wanna Be” violates standards of decency and should not be sold to minors. The album has already been ruled obscene by a Florida judge and was banned from record stores in San Antonio, Tex. In Indiana, Howard County Judge Randy G. Hainlen issued his ruling late Friday after reviewing an affidavit submitted by prosecutor James D. Andrews and listening to the tape in his chambers. According to Andrews’ affidavit, the album’s lyrics “are so filled with explicit and detailed verbal descriptions or narrative accounts of sexual excitement, or sexual conduct, along with timely moaning and groaning, that they violate contemporary community standards of obscenity and are harmful to children.” A member of the prosecutor’s staff purchased the cassette Wednesday from a Karma Records store.
