LA HABRA : New City Clerk Settling Into Job
Sharie Apodaca will attend her first City Council meeting Tuesday as the new city clerk during a special meeting called to deliberate on the city’s General Plan.
Apodaca, 31, replaces Gayle Garbo, who left the area when her husband took an out-of-town job.
Apodaca will administer an upcoming council election along with her other duties as custodian of city records.
“I feel very comfortable here,” said the Whittier resident, who has worked 3 1/2 years for that city, including two as assistant city clerk and treasurer.
“La Habra is a very nice community,” she said. “I plan on being here awhile.”
Married and the mother of a 9-year-old daughter, Apodaca is a graduate of St. Paul High School in Whittier and the University of San Diego. Her degree is in public administration.
City Manager Lee Risner said Apodaca was selected, in part, due to “her reputation for efficiency and effectiveness and her obvious good nature.”
