Man Killed When Car Veers Across Freeway
The driver of a car that crossed the Golden State Freeway median near Castaic was killed when his car struck another car head-on, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday. The man killed in the accident at 4:30 p.m. Sunday near the Templin Highway exit was identified as Marcail Franco, 26, of Woodlake, Calif. Two people in the other car were seriously injured.
The CHP said Franco was going north on the freeway when his car veered into the asphalt median and then into the southbound lanes. His car collided with a car driven by Kristen Jenson, 31, of Torrance, officers said.
Franco was killed on impact. Jenson and a 10-year-old girl who was a passenger in her car were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The accident, which is still under investigation, backed up southbound traffic on the freeway for more than two hours, the CHP said.
