William (Jeff) Williamson; Retired Aerospace Engineer

William (Jeff) Williamson, a longtime aerospace industry engineer, has died in Panorama City. He was 67.

Williamson, who lived in Sherman Oaks for more than 30 years, died Aug. 1 of complications of heart problems, said his sister, Judy Kieffer.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., he came to California in the early 1940s. His studies at Caltech were interrupted while he served three years in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After he was discharged, he returned to school and received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1948. The following year, he earned a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering and in 1955, he received an additional advanced degree in engineering, also from Caltech.

He worked as an aeronautical engineer at several aerospace companies in the San Fernando Valley, including Lockheed Corp. and the Marquardt Co. In the early 1970s, Williamson started working in the city of Los Angeles Planning Department, where he remained until his retirement in 1986.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, June M. Williamson; a stepson, William Baker of Reseda; and a sister, Judy Kieffer of Aloha, Ore.

A memorial service was held Tuesday. Praiswater Funeral Home in Van Nuys handled the arrangements. Donations can be made in Williamson’s name to the First Presbyterian Church of Sherman Oaks.
