Van Nuys Man Killed in Brawl
A Van Nuys man died Saturday morning from injuries he received in a barroom brawl in North Hollywood, police said.
Leo Firpo, 25, was punched and kicked by two assailants and at 1:35 a.m. was left lying unconscious in the parking lot of FM Station, a nightclub at 11700 Victory Blvd. in North Hollywood, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Christopher Vasquez.
Firpo was driven by a friend to the Medical Center of North Hollywood, where he died at 2:22 a.m., Vasquez said.
Police are searching for two men who beat Firpo, Vasquez said. One is described as white, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and between 25 and 30 years old. Police said he was wearing his brown hair in a ponytail and has a large tattoo, possibly of a bird, on the left side of his back. The other suspect is described as white, between 25 and 27 years old, with brown shoulder-length hair.
Witnesses reported that after beating Firpo, the men jumped into the bed of a full-size white pickup truck and escaped with a third suspect at the wheel. Police have no description of the driver, Vasquez said.
