SIMI VALLEY : Driver Killed After Car Skids in Turn
A Simi Valley man died early Sunday when his speeding sports car missed a turn and slammed into a parked car, police said.
Russell Simily, 22, was driving his Pontiac Trans Am at high speed in the 4600 block of Hempstead Street about 1:15 a.m. when the car rounded a curve and lost traction, said Simi Valley Police Lt. Neal Rein. The car skidded into a parked car, driver’s side first, Rein said.
Simily was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple injuries. A passenger, Gary Rubel, suffered head injuries and was taken to Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, Rein said.
