New Envoy to U.S. Is Israeli Rightist

JERUSALEM — Israel’s Cabinet on Sunday appointed right-wing member of Parliament Zalman Shoval to be ambassador to the United States. Shoval is a member of the Ometz (Courage) party, which agreed to join Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir’s government in return for the U.S. appointment.
