MISSION VIEJO : 4 Teens Arrested in Burglary of Club
Four teen-agers were arrested by sheriff’s deputies Wednesday morning in connection with a burglary at the Mission Viejo Country Club.
Brian Robert Matsen of Laguna Niguel and Michael David Miller of Laguna Hills, both 18, and two 16-year-old males were charged with stealing about $4,000 worth of golf clubs and other golf equipment.
Police were alerted by a neighbor who heard an alarm at the clubhouse about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sheriff’s Department Lt. Richard Olson said.
Several patrol cars responded to the call and arrived at the country club, 26742 Oso Parkway, just as the suspects were driving away in two vehicles.
Deputies stopped a black 1980 Saab being driven by Matsen near Oso Parkway and Interstate 5. One of the juveniles also was in the car, in which deputies found several pieces of golf equipment, Olson said. A few minutes later, deputies in another patrol car stopped a red 1988 Ford Bronco heading north on I-5 just past the Oso Parkway interchange.
Olson said the truck’s driver was Miller, and the other juvenile was a passenger. More golf equipment and golf clubs were discovered in the vehicle, he said.
Miller and Matsen were being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail each. The juveniles were released to the custody of their parents.
