LOCAL : Gilbert Lindsay ‘Doing Better’
City Councilman Gilbert Lindsay appeared to be “doing better” today and was taken off a respirator but remained hospitalized after suffering an apparent stroke over the weekend, a spokesman said.
Lindsay aide Robert Gay said he expected to learn later in the day the results of medical tests undertaken to pinpoint Lindsay’s condition.
Lindsay, 89, left paralyzed on the right side, had been relaxing at his home late Sunday night when he was stricken, Gay said.
The 9th District councilman was placed in intensive care at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital in Inglewood, where he remains. He is still unable to speak but is breathing on his own.
