Fortuneteller Arrested in $470,000 Case
HUNTINGTON BEACH — A fortuneteller was arrested here Friday on suspicion of bilking at least six of her customers out of more than $470,000 over five years, police said.
Cathy Adams, 34, the owner of Old World Psychic at 7561 Center Ave., was being held in Huntington Beach City Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail on suspicion of theft by false pretenses and grand theft, police said.
Huntington Beach vice investigators arrested Adams after serving her with a search warrant, concluding “a lengthy investigation into a fortunetelling scam,” Police Lt. Patrick Gildea said.
No other details were released.
