Here are the candidates running for three seats on the Westminster School District Board of Trustees in the Nov. 6 election.
Cindi Arthur
Age: 35
Occupation: Incumbent/ community volunteer
Background: Has served as a member of the Westminster School District Board of Trustees for the past five years. Now serves as president but has held positions as clerk and vice president.
Issues: Wants to address school maintenance, child care, increasing enrollment and the needs of bilingual students.
Joseph G. Davis
Age: 38
Occupation: Attorney
Background: Served as chairman of the Community Services Commission, president of the Outdoor Science Foundation and a member of the District Advisory Council.
Issues: Wants to achieve the fundamental goals of education while understanding and appreciating the ethnic and cultural differences of the community.
Sheryl Neugebauer
Age: 38
Occupation: Flight attendant/ parent
Background: Served on DARE, disaster preparedness, school site and district advisory committees, PTA and participated in youth sports programs.
Issues: Believes in a strong anti-drug and anti-gang program, open enrollment and more funds for building maintenance.
Margie L. Rice
Age: 62
Occupation: Incumbent
Background: School district trustee for 13 years.
Issues: Believes in the neighborhood school concept and opening more schools to handle enrollment increases.
Ron Morgan
Age: 38
Occupation: Incumbent/key account executive, Pacific Bell Directories
Background: Appointed to the board in 1988 to fill a vacancy. Has served as a member and representative of political action to Orange County school boards. Previously served on the district’s budget and open enrollment committees. Served 10 years as a Boy Scout adviser and volunteer.
Issues: Believes in anti-gang and drug programs.
