CBS’ ‘Nightline’ Attack: CBS News is going to turn its recent late-night news specials into a regular program, beginning Oct. 1. No title has been set yet for the series, which will go against “Nightline” and be anchored by Leslie Stahl and Charles Kuralt. The two anchors will examine several stories through live interviews, extended news segments and essays. The 11:30 p.m. to midnight newscast evolved from “Showdown in the Gulf,” a series of late-night specials about the crisis in the Middle East that recently have been airing during the time period on CBS.
