Calabasas Losing a Numbers Game
The one high school football team in the area that can ill afford injuries is Calabasas, which started the season with 16 varsity players. But three Coyotes have been sidelined to deplete the roster further.
Guard Matt Credle suffered a broken ankle and will be lost for almost six weeks, fullback Dave Christensen (two touchdowns) had thumb surgery and should be out at least six weeks, and guard/linebacker Matt Ockander sustained a concussion and will miss this week’s game.
“We’re going to have to be real scrappy,” Coach Larry Edwards said. In addition to scrappiness, Edwards will promote three players from the junior varsity.
