Ask Computer to Fight Suit: Mountain View-based Ask Computer Systems said it would “vigorously defend” itself against a lawsuit brought by investor James Lennane, Ask’s second-largest shareholder, who owns 9.7% of its outstanding stock. He sued the company Wednesday in a Delaware court, seeking to block Ask’s proposed purchase of software maker Ingres Corp. for $110 million in cash. Lennane also said he planned to mount a proxy fight to gain control of Ask’s board at its Oct. 26 annual meeting.
