TOP OF THE WORLD: Dixie’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band, ZZ Top, returns with a new album Oct. 16, titled “Recycler.” Recorded in Memphis with longtime producer Bill Ham, it features such hot new stuff as “Lovething,” “Penthouse Eyes,” “My Head’s in Mississippi” and “2000 Blues.” Aficionados of Memphis will get a thrill out of the album’s inner-sleeve photo spread (“Hangin’ Around That Memphis Town”), which features funky pix of various area landmarks, including Dolly’s House of Dolls and Leonard’s (the best barbecue joint in Tennessee). . . . Hard-rockers Tesla have unplugged their amps and gone acoustic--at least temporarily. You can hear the results on “Five Man Acoustical Jam,” the band’s new live all-acoustic album, due out in mid-November from Geffen Records. The group covers a host of oldies, including the Stones’ “Mothers Little Helper” and CCR’s “Lodi,” as well as a batch of their hits and two new originals, “Down Fo’ Boogie” and “Tommy’s Down Home.” The material comes from a series of acoustic club dates the band did earlier this year. . . . And rock faves the Waterboys are back this month with a new album titled “Room to Roam.” The record features such new tunes as “Song From the End of the World,” “The Star and the Sea” and “Spring Comes to Spiddal,” as well as versions of such traditional songs as “The Raggle Taggle Gypsy” and “Natural Bridge Blues.”
