California IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : 5 Juveniles Escapees From Guidance Center Are Hunted
Arrest warrants have been issued for five juveniles, including a 15-year-old murder suspect, who escaped from the San Francisco Youth Guidance Center by overpowering their counselors. The murder suspect is Tasi Faamausili, who was charged with fatally stabbing a man during a July 21 robbery. Police said Francisco Esco, 16, who was in custody allegedly for drugs and assault on a police officer, managed to obtain a can of dog repellent and sprayed it Wednesday evening in the eyes of a counselor, Greg Foote, 32, momentarily blinding him. Authorities said the boys took Foote’s keys and fled through the center’s gym, where they encountered two other counselors and beat them to the ground. Then the boys, all wearing Youth Guidance Center uniforms, climbed a fence and disappeared in the darkness.
