Jury Duty: Jury selection begins today at the Broward County Courthouse in Florida in the trial of Charles Freeman, the Ft. Lauderdale record store owner who was arrested June 8 for selling a copy of the Miami rap group 2 Live Crew’s sexually explicit “As Nasty as They Wanna Be” album. Freeman, 32, drew national attention after he defied police warnings to stop selling the rap record, which was declared obscene on June 6 by U.S. District Judge Jose Gonzalez in Ft. Lauderdale. If convicted, Freeman faces up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
