Officials Seek Cause of Convention Illnesses
CHICAGO — City Health Department officials were attempting Tuesday to determine the cause of the apparent food poisoning of more than 150 people attending a convention.
The officials said the apparent cause was food served Sunday at a hotel, but they added that it could be several days or even weeks before a determination is made. A survey of area hospitals showed that at least 155 people were treated for symptoms of food poisoning.
The meal at the Hyatt Regency Hotel included a green salad, chicken stuffed with wild rice and bread pudding with cream sauce.
