Brown’s Return Preserves Victory for Los Amigos

Eddie Brown returned an onsides kickoff attempt 55 yards for a touchdown with 1 minute 32 seconds left to play, preserving Los Amigos High School’s 35-27 victory over Bolsa Grande in a Garden Grove League game Thursday night at Garden Grove High.

Marcus Wilson’s 10-yard scoring run brought Bolsa Grande to within one point at 28-27, but quarterback Bryan Taylor was sacked on his two-point conversion attempt by Los Amigos’ Seilala Faamausili.

Los Amigos football--In Friday’s edition of The Times, Los Amigos’ football player Eddie Benson, who returned an on-sides kickoff for a touchdown, was misidentified.

Los Amigos (3-2, 1-1 in league) kept the ball on the ground, attempting only four passes and completing none.

Derek Ragsdale gained 111 yards in 22 carries, including an 11-yard scoring run in the third quarter, and returned an interception 50 yards for a first-half touchdown.

Bolsa Grande (1-4, 1-2) was led by Maurice Wilson, who gained 199 yards in 24 carries and scored on runs of two and 32 yards.

Pete Gomez and Faamausili accounted for Los Amigos’ other scores on runs of 20 and one yard.
