L.A. Southwest 22, Ventura 6--Southwest, coming off three consecutive losses, not only held visiting Ventura to six points but intercepted five passes, sacked the quarterback seven times, blocked two passes and recovered a fumble.

The Cougars were held to only 66 yards rushing and 214 yards overall, but made the most of their opportunities.

Southwest scored first when David Mack intercepted quarterback Tim Albrent and returned the ball 57 yards for a touchdown.

The Cougars scored again after Mack intercepted his second pass. On the first play after the interception, quarterback Craig Manigo passed 45 yards to wide receiver Michael Stevens for a touchdown.

Mack’s third interception set up Southwest’s last touchdown. From Ventura’s 35-yard line, Manigo pitched the ball to Jessie Wallace, who passed to a wide open Robert Avery.
