Administration, Congress Wrangle Over the Budget
In response to “Bush’s Waffling Reflects Lack of Fallback Stance” (news analysis, Part A, Oct. 11):
President Bush’s glib response (while jogging) to a reporter’s question on whether he’d changed his position on the capital gains cuts was “Read my hips.” Unbelievable. This man lied (one of many) in order to win the election and then has the effrontery to make a joke of it? Apparently, we are being led by a fool.
