LOCAL : Woman and Son Held in Killing
A woman in military fatigue clothing and her 11-year-old son, who was dressed as a girl, were arrested in the slaying of the woman’s mother, one of 27 people who died violently at the hands of others over the weekend, authorities said today.
The 78-year-old woman, Roma Jual Jacobs, died shortly after she dialed 911 from her home in La Canada Flintridge on Sunday night to report she had been stabbed, sheriff’s Deputy Rafael Estrada said.
“Deputies also heard gunshots over the phone,” Estrada said.
When deputies converged on the home minutes later, they first found a 43-year-old woman dressed in camouflage fatigues and her 11-year son, wearing “female” clothing, in a side yard.
After forcing their way into the house, they found Jacobs’ body. She had been stabbed and shot numerous times.
Deputies arrested the woman, identified as the victim’s daughter, and her son in the slaying. Deputies did not immediately release their names or discuss a motive for the slaying.
