The poor health that has been troubling Greg LeMond kept the cyclist out of the Paris-Tours race and he will be sidelined for the last two races of the season, next week’s Tour of Lombardy and the World Cup finale Oct. 27 in Lunel.
Since winning his third Tour de France in July after a long battle to get back in shape, LeMond finished fourth in the World Championship, in which he was defending champion.
He dropped out of the Grand Prix of the Americas Sept. 30 and recently gave up in the first stage of the Tour of Ireland.
LeMond won the Tour de France after a virus and winter promotional activities kept him from reaching his peak form until June.
