Ira Larkin Osborn; Retired Union Official
Ira Larkin Osborn, who served for about 20 years as executive secretary/treasurer of the Hotel Workers and Bartenders union, Local 694, has died at a Burbank convalescent home. He was 82.
Osborn died Oct. 11 of natural causes, said his daughter, Kathy Miller.
A native of Oklahoma, Osborn came to the San Fernando Valley in the early 1930s. He worked as a bartender at a Sherman Oaks restaurant. In 1957, he became executive secretary/treasurer of the union, which is now called Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union, Local 11. He worked for the union until his retirement in the mid-1970s. He had also been a member of the Methodist Church of Sherman Oaks.
He is survived by his daughter and a granddaughter. His wife, Barney Osborn, died in 1985.
A memorial service was held Wednesday. Arrangements were made by Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills Mortuary.
