PORT HUENEME : Forum Planned for School Candidates
A candidates forum for the Hueneme Elementary School District school board will be held Nov. 1.
The nine contenders will discuss their reasons for seeking office and answer questions from the audience.
Three of the five trustees on the board, which oversees nine elementary schools and two middle schools, are up for reelection in the Nov. 6 election.
The biggest issue the board will likely face this year is overcrowding in the classroom, said Barbara Tate, president of the Hueneme PTA Council, which is sponsoring the forum. One option the board may consider is a year-round school schedule, she said.
The forum will be held from 7 to 8:45 p.m. at Blackstock Junior High School at 701 Bard Road in Oxnard.
