California IN BRIEF : ENCINITAS : 3 Killed Playing Cards on Train Track

Three people were killed and one injured when an Amtrak train bound to San Diego from Los Angeles struck them as they were playing cards and drinking on the track about 25 miles north of San Diego, an Amtrak official said. “Four trespassers were playing cards and drinking on the track,” said Amtrak spokesman Arthur Lloyd. “The engineer probably saw them, but they can’t stop in time. It’s very upsetting.”
