THE SIDELINES : Mother of Vikings’ Browner Dies
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Julia Browner, the mother of Minnesota Vikings safety Joey Browner and three other sons who played in the NFL, died in Atlanta.
A memorial service for Browner, who died Sunday, will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta on Wednesday, the Vikings announced. Burial will be in Warren, Ohio.
In addition to Joey, who has been with the Vikings since he was drafted in the first round in 1983, the other Browners who played pro football were: Ross, a defensive end with Cincinnati and Green Bay from 1978 through 1988; Jim, a defensive back with Cincinnati in 1979 and 1980; and Keith, a linebacker with Tampa Bay, San Francisco, the Los Angeles Raiders and San Diego from 1984 through 1988.
