P.M. BRIEFING : Japan Accepts 2 Foreign Firms

TOKYO — Jardine Fleming Investment Trust Management Ltd. and Warburg Investment Trust Management Co. became the first foreign companies allowed to manage investment trusts in Japan, the companies said today.
Japan’s Finance Ministry approved the licenses, and the two companies will market their investment trusts through the branch networks of Japanese securities companies and trust banks, the companies said. They will invest in bonds and equities in Japan and overseas.
