Unprecedented meetings between black and white African sports leaders will begin today in Harare, Zimbabwe. The talks could lead to South Africa’s re-entry into the Olympic movement.
Three decades since it last competed in an Olympic Games and 20 years since its expulsion from the Olympic movement because of its government’s policy of racial separation, South Africa has been invited to Harare to put its case to the Assn. of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA). South Africa hopes to be readmitted to the association.
